Montcuq is a former commune in the Lot department and is approximately a 5-minute drive from Studio Préniac.
The town is vibrant all year round as well as being a popular tourist destination. It is a very picturesque and friendly place with all major amenities as well as a lively Sunday market. It still has a rich agricultural industry, and is known for its manufacture of meringues and gaufres de Saint Daunes waffles.
The town's name could derive from the Latin Mont Circus Vallium, meaning "cuckoo mountain".
